WWE Super Show-Down 2018: Complete Card, Analysis & Predictions

October 3, 2018

The biggest professional wrestling event to ever take place in Australia is just days away! It will all go down this Saturday, October 6th at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where the top WWE Superstars will be in action.

With a predicted crowd of around 70,000 set to pack out the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it will surpass 2002’s Global Warning Tour show at Marvel Stadium which saw over 56,000 people in attendance.

Headlining the show is a blockbuster seen at three WrestleManias but now billed to be for the last time ever - Triple H versus The Undertaker. To add to the intrigue, Shawn Michaels will be in his long-time friend’s corner, while Kane will join the Deadman.

Here’s your guide to WWE Super Show-Down including start time, match card, predictions, rumours and more.

WWE Super Show-Down takes place on Saturday 6 October, with the pre-show starting at 6:30pm AEST and the main show starting at 7pm AEST.

Gates are open from 4:30pm AEST and the show will end at 11pm AEST.

To watch WWE Super Show-Down, subscribe to the WWE Network or order the Pay Per View on Main Event.

Here is the full match card for WWE Super Show-Down.

- The Undertaker (with Kane) vs. Triple H (with Shawn Michaels)

- The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins) vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

- WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe (No Count-Outs, No Disqualifications)

- Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie) vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan)

- Smackdown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

- John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens and Elias

- Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz (Winner earns a future WWE Championship Match)

- Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

- Asuka and Naomi vs The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce)

- WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Buddy Murphy

The Undertaker (with Kane) vs. Triple H (with Shawn Michaels)

Brent Welch - This match is difficult to pick, will WWE want to send the crowd home happy or set up Saudi Arabia. Money talks, Shawn will cause Triple H to win. Winner: Triple H

Brodey Wickenden - This is your main event and I think it’s the safer bet that the crowd will follow Taker over Trips. You wanna send the crowd home happy an this, to me, seems to be the safe way to do it. Winner: The Undertaker

Matt Glover - With the rumor of this becoming a tag match at Crown Jewel I think Triple H will finally pull one out against the Undertaker with a little help from HBK. The brothers of destruction will be getting the win back in a month or so time anyway. Winner: Triple H

Paul Antonoff - When this was first announced I just saw no reason for Undertaker to be losing to Triple H, then Shawn was added into the mix, and that changed things up a little. After some more thought, I asked the following questions (assuming Shawn is coming out of retirement for Saudi Arabia): Does Taker win to set up a tag match? Possibly. Does Triple H win to set up a tag match? Possibly. Is Shawn going to lose his return match? Probably not. Will Undertaker lose both matches? No. That leaves me with this prediction. Winner: Undertaker

Steve Jenkins - I am guessing that the Undertaker will win. I don’t really see it making much sense for Triple H to win here. That is unless Shawn Michaels costs the Deadman the match (which is an option). I am not convinced yet that Shawn is coming out of retirement, so I am going safe with my pick. Winner: The Undertaker

Adam Barras - The hype has been great and has definitely sucked me in. Will be great nostalgia to see all 4 guys, the match may not be much, but I don't think we expect it. I think at last HHH wins here. Winner: Triple H

The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins) vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

Brent Welch - It may just be because I am not a big fan of having the Shield back together and it probably won’t happen but I really want the Dean heel turn. Winners: Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

Brodey Wickenden - I don’t see much here beyond just a match for the sake of it. I’d say you put the Dogs of War over to make them strong moving forward but again, I still WWE is looking at this as a glorified house show. Winners: The Shield

Matt Glover - In what should be one helluva match. Given the intrigue of team members possibly turning on each other such as Dean Ambrose on the his follow shield members I can see this being drama filled with a lot of fun as most 6 man style matches have been the last few years. Winners: The Shield

Paul Antonoff - I’m a little torn here because on one hand, this is a glorified house show so the obvious result is the Shield going over cleanly to make the crowd happy. On the other hand, if this is treated as a genuine PPV, it should be the start of the Shield crumbling with a slow burn Ambrose heel turn that most people feel is coming, and a loss would start it off nicely (I know the heels also have had some dissent, but they’re a makeshift stable anyway). I’ll go with the obvious and think the Shield dissention will start closer to (if not at) Survivor Series. Winners: The Shield

Steve Jenkins - Regardless, this should be a really fun 6-man tag team match. Expecting a lot of fun stuff here as the feud has been solid so far.I don’t think that the Shield will be losing here. I feel as if WWE is going to want to give the Shield the win to prove how dominant they are together. My guess is that one of the Shield members will end up pinning Dolph Ziggler for the win. I think that WWE will protect both Braun and Drew from taking the pinfall loss. Winners: The Shield

Adam Barras - The one thing that pisses me off about this is missing the chance for me to be 16 beers deep and yelling BURN IT DOWN. I will never forgive WWE for taking that away from me. I think the Shield get up here. Winners: The Shield

Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie) vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan)

Brent Welch - I think Nikki needs to do something to set up her main even against Ronda at Evolution, therefore I think Riott Squad win allowing Nikki to feud with Ronda and Brie to run off to Smackdown. Winners: The Riott Squad

Brodey Wickenden - Faces go over, Rhonda poses and the crowd cheers. Winners: Rousey  The Bella Twins

Matt Glover - Ronda will finally get her win in Melbourne after all these years. But I can see the Bellas turning on her after the completion of the match to possibly lead into something at the all women's PPV Evolution. Winners: Rousey & The Bella Twins

Paul Antonoff - The Bellas are TRAILBLAZERS, ask Stephanie! Ronda is Ronda and the Riott Squad are a terrible stable. I can’t even pretend to care about this, and I don’t think there’s any doubt who’s going over. Winner: Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins.

Steve Jenkins - My guess is that we see Ronda vs Nikki teased here. This is the match that is rumored for the Evolution PPV and it would make sense for WWE to tease (or set-up) that match here. Ronda and the Bellas will win but there will be some tension teased either during or after the match between Ronda and Nikki. Plus Ronda ain't losing in Australia this time around. Winner: Rousey & The Bella Twins

Adam Barras - Excited to see Ronda again after UFC years ago in Melbourne. I think WWE play on that and let her get her win in Melbourne, finally. Winners: Rousey & The Bella Twins

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Brent Welch - It is too soon for Becky to lose the title, isn’t it? Please tell me Charlotte doesn’t win. Winner: Becky Lynch

Brodey Wickenden - This is the one I’m most 50/50 on. I can see this being the cheap “look the show matters, a title changed hands!” But I’m hoping they don’t do that and they don’t subject the title, this great feud or Becky’s crazy momentum to that. Winner: Becky Lynch

Matt Glover - Surely Becky cannot drop the belt already and with this feud only just getting started I would love to see this go on for a few months yet. These two have been the best part of Smackdown and everything is right when Lynch in champion. Winner: Becky Lynch

Paul Antonoff - I’m expecting Becky to retain here by DQ. Charlotte will get the title back at some point whether we like it or not, but now is not the time. I think the big blowoff is coming at Evolution and this is just filler on the road to it. Winner: Double DQ

Steve Jenkins - My gut says that we are getting a disqualification finish at the event in Australia. That would set up a stipulation match between Charlotte and Becky at Evolution. I think that this feud is too good for them just to end it with Becky picking up two straight wins and moving on. I think that we are heading to a third match. Winner: Match ends in disqualification or double count-out (Becky retains).

Adam Barras - Love that we get to see this. No doubt Becky retains here. Winner: Becky Lynch

John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens and Elias

Brent Welch - I think WWE will want this one for the kids, Cena and his 5 moves of Doom for the win. Winners: John Cena & Bobby Lashley

Brodey Wickenden - Again, faces over so the crowd cheers kinda deal. Winners: John Cena & Bobby Lashley

Matt Glover - Should be a fun match with fan favorite John Cena making an appearance. Hopefully we see a performance from Elias and KO pre match with some fun Aussie banter. Winners: John Cena & Bobby Lashley

Paul Antonoff - This seems like a randomly thrown together house show tag team match, which is good and I’m sure it’ll be entertaining for what it is, but it’s inconsequential and I’m not sure why I’m supposed to care about who wins and who loses, so I’ll go with the babyfaces. Winner: John Cena and Bobby Lashley

Steve Jenkins - This should be a decent tag team match. My guess is that Cena and Lashley will end up winning. The main storyline will probably be the feud between Lashley and Owens, which recently started on Monday Night RAW. My guess is that Elias is the one who takes the pinfall loss here. Winners: John Cena and Bobby Lashley

Adam Barras - The only thing that excited me about this match is hopefully seeing Lio Rush. The next best positive is hearing 70,000 people at the MCG yelling WALK WITH ELIAS. Don't care who wins, will probably be Cena and Lashley. Winner: John Cena & Bobby Lashley

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe (No Count-Outs, No Disqualifications)

Brent Welch - I think WWE are keen on having CM Punk removed from the history books as longest reigning champion so, although I would love to see Joe win the title I believe AJ will retain. Winner: AJ Styles

Brodey Wickenden - As much as I don’t want it to be, I feel this is where this feud ends and I don’t see the title changing hands on a show like this. Even if I’m wrong I feel wwe is going to use that one year mark if AJs title run to build to something, so I don’t see him dropping it here. Winner: AJ Styles

Matt Glover - I would love to see Samoa win this with all my heart, but it seems that AJ is destined to hold this title for a long time yet. AJ will no doubt have a hardcore style of wrestling to get his revenge after what Joe has said about his family. Winner: AJ Styles

Paul Antonoff - They really need to do something to give the idea that these glorified house shows are must see and a title change would do just that. I could see Joe winning the title here, but only if Bryan beats Miz, and I feel they’re going in a different direction, that being Orton v Bryan and AJ v Miz (neither of which I’m crazy about), and I’m not sure where that leaves Joe, unfortunately. Winner: AJ Styles

Steve Jenkins - My gut says that Styles is going to win here and move on from the feud with Joe. I think our next feud for the WWE Championship will be the Miz vs Styles. I would love to see Joe with the belt but I just don’t think WWE is going to do it. Winner: AJ Styles

Adam Barras - Can't wait to see Joe and AJ steal the show. I think this feud has to have some sort of pay off and I think if the rumours are true it's Joe winning the title in Melbourne! This will call for more beers! Winner: Samoa Joe

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz (Winner earns a future WWE Championship Match)

Brent Welch - I have a theory and if Miz doesn’t win Wrestlemania is ruined. Miz will win this, beat AJ and drop the title at Wrestlemania. I have gone a bit off topic here. Winner: The Miz

Brodey Wickenden - This one I can see going either way and it feels super logical to put DBry over after coping two straight PPV loses but I’m almost looking at that as the ability to pull out a beautiful swerve. I see something then happening to make it a 3 way but that’s for later. The Miz over here. Winner: The Miz

Matt Glover - The feud gone on for years it seems. The Miz has been outstanding from the get go and really deserves to be in the championship spotlight again. Winner: The Miz

Paul Antonoff - I’m convinced Miz is winning here because AJ v Miz would make for a good filler PPV main event (I think Bryan’s shot is coming at WrestleMania). But how? Bryan lost to him and SummerSlam, and in the mixed tag match at Hell in a Cell. Can he really take a third loss in a row? Not really, so I’d have to predict Randy Orton comes down and screws him over, setting up a feud between those two. Winner: The Miz

Steve Jenkins - This should be another fun match between these two and I am looking forward to it. The stakes have been raised as the winner will be getting a future WWE Championship match. The Miz currently has Daniel’s number, since he pinned him at Summerslam. I think that Miz will end up going on to become WWE Champion in a few months, setting up a match down the road for the Title against Bryan. It all starts with the Miz cheating to win again though in Australia. Winner: The Miz

Adam Barras - This is the match I am most looking forward too. I will be cheering my lungs out for the Miz like I did 10 years ago at Rod Laver Arena when he was on his first international tour. It's time for Miz to have another championship program it's well overdue. Winner: The Miz

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

Brent Welch - This is another difficult to call match, I am betting on not many title changes though so New Day win. Should be a brilliant match. Winners: The New Day

Brodey Wickenden - Like the Smackdown Women’s title I worry they may go for the cheap title switch here but I also think it could pan out for the better. I think a Sanity v New Day feud is on the mind and I feel Sanity taking the title from a heel team as opposed to the New Day works better. I’m fantasy booking a bit here but that’s just how I see it going down. Winners: The Bar

Matt Glover - Always going to be a fun when these two teams get into ring with each other. New day will continue there title reign and there will be pancakes for all. Winners: The New Day

Paul Antonoff - I can’t really see any reason to take the titles off the New Day, especially to The Bar, who are ice cold at this point. Winners: The New Day

Steve Jenkins - My early guess is that the New Day will retain. I think that it is too early for the New Day to drop the belts. This will likely be an awesome match though as both teams have great chemistry with one another. Winner: The New Day

Adam Barras - This will be a really great match that I don't think the crowd will be ready for. I'd love to see The Bar win but I think The New Day hold the titles a bit longer. I predict though that this will be the first you are a wanker chant for the night, mainly aimed at Sheamus. Winners: The New Day

Asuka and Naomi vs. The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce)

Brent Welch - Usually I would never expect the IIconics to win this but home ground advantage. Winners: The IIconics.

Brodey Wickenden - Home town girls getting the home town win, not much else here. Winners: The IIconics.

Matt Glover - Sadly not every hometown hero gets a happy ending especially in WWE. In this case I can see the Aussie gals getting an L for this one. Winners: Asuka & Naomi

Paul Antonoff - When my reaction is ‘this is the best they could do for The IIconics?’ and one of the opponents is the amazing Asuka, it just goes to show how much the WWE have ruined her. Vince loves to embarrass people in their hometown (or country in this case since they’re from Sydney, not Melbourne) but I don’t see any reason for it to happen here, and Naomi and Asuka aren’t heels anyway. Winners: The IIconics

Steve Jenkins - It should be fun to hear the crowd reaction for this match since Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are both from Australia. Since they are heels, I am guessing that they will do the classic, ‘insult your hometown’ promo before the match to get the crowd to boo them. Winners: Asuka & Naomi

Adam Barras - My prediction here is that by this much I may be absolutely plastered from all the grog I'll drink getting around a Buddy Murphy win. I think Asuka and Naomi will win here. Winners: Asuka & Naomi

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Buddy Murphy

Brent Welch - Buddy Murphy has to win, first Australian Champion on the main roster, in Australia, at the MCG. The Cruiserweight championship would never receive a bigger reaction. Winner: Buddy Murphy

Brodey Wickenden - It’s gotta happen, suuuuurely! Even if you throw the title back on Cendric on the next 205 live, surely you capitalise on this opportunity. Put this higher up on the card and let the crowd eat it up for 15-20 minutes and let us Aussies salivate at our boy winning the title in his hometown. Winner: Buddy Murphy

Matt Glover - Buddy has been the best thing about 205 for a few months now and deserves his championship at the MCG in front of this home crowd. Will probably go on to be match of the night as well. Winner: Buddy Murphy

Paul Antonoff - I don’t watch 205 live so whatever feud is going on here is lost on me. I don’t know much about Buddy Murphy aside from him being Australian, so I guess if they’re going to give him the title this would be the best place to do it. I’ll have to side with the champ, though. Winner: Cedric Alexander

Steve Jenkins - I am going to say that we will see a Title change here. I think that this would be a nice moment for the hometown crowd. Also, the reign of Cedric has been going for a while now and I don’t think that many would be too upset with a change of scenery. Winner: Buddy Murphy

Adam Barras - I predict Buddy has to win here #ifbuddylosesweriot. In the world of WWE it depends how they feel on the day. Do they give the hometown hero a welcome party? Or do they let them suffer in front of their home town fans? I think it's time Buddy has a run with the belt and shows us what he can do. Winner: Buddy Murphy

Shinsuke Nakamura has no clear feud heading into Super Show-Down.

My gut says that WWE is going to have him host some sort of open challenge for his U.S Championship in Australia.

WWE could give us a massive surprise, like a Rey Mysterio in this spot. They also could give the chance to someone like R-Truth, who is one of the few baby-faces that they have on the blue roster right now. We also could see someone like a Luke Harper get a chance as a singles competitor. I think this could be a fun added element to the show and a good way to start Nakamura’s next feud. My personal hope would be that this is the way that they will bring back Rey Mysterio. We will have to wait and see though.

Winner: If it is Rey Mysterio, Nakamura will drop the Title to him. If it is anybody else, like Nakamura retains.
